estate planning

An estate plan is a way to make sure the things you have worked for and acquired over your lifetime get to where you want them to go. Your estate plan can be as simple as a will or as complex as a trust. Many people believe that an estate plan is only for those who have a lot of money, but this is not the case. For example, if you have children, you need an estate plan so you can decide who will take care of your children if something happens to you and your spouse. If you do not make this decision, it could end up in the hands of the court and someone who you would not have chose may be the guardian over your child.

An estate plan is not just making sure your property gets to where you want it to, but it also includes a financial power of attorney designating who you want to make decisions over your finances if you are unable to make those decisions. It also includes a health care power of attorney designating someone to make health care decisions for if you are unable to do so.

The Attorneys at Kidwell & Cunningham work with clients to provide them with estate planning guidance. The firm prepares Wills, Trusts, and associated documents which may include a Financial Power of Attorney, Living Will, and Health Care Power of Attorney.
